Thank you for interest in helping to test Poverty Race Class & Culture Online. This online class is for both professional and volunteer practitioners who work with individual and families that live in poverty. It is designed to unpack the complexity of poverty in America works to perpetuate it in spite of the programs and services we offer to address it.    

As a Beta Test Group Member you are being asked to evaluate not just the some of class content, but also the user experience from registration, accessing class materials, class homework and getting a certificate of completion. 

You will asked to complete the *Pre-Class Preparation, Classes One & Two, and the homework. You should be able to complete these in about (4) hours in 1-3 days. (The full class is (6) Weeks (12 hours, including homework)

Beta Test Overview

*Pre-Class Preparation (Survey & Assignment) 

Week 1 - Class One: Preparation Review & Discussion
Week 2 - Class Two: What is the Problem? & Why is it a Problem?  

Week 3 - Class Three: Why is it my Problem?  
Week 4 - Class Four: What can I do about it?
Week 5 - Class Five: How do I get started?

Week 6 - Class Learning Application Assignment

*Pre-Class Preparation 
Because people are at various places in their understanding of poverty, Pre-Class Preparation will help prepare participants for a productive and thought-provoking learning experience. It introduces class learning objectives, clarifies key terms and definitions and provides learning activities to help unpack those terms and definitions. Participants will also be able to reflect on their personal history and define their own learning objectives for the course.  

 

Learning Groups

A requirement of taking the online class is that a minimum of (4) people form a Learning Group to take the class together (Not a requirement for the Beta Test Group....), and we want to test this aspect of the online class as well.
